I have a new bearcat 396XT. Actually, I have six of them... Anyway, I entered the control freqs listed in Radioreference for Roseville City trunked system and I am receiving nothing. Any help would be appreciated... BTW, I have six scanners because I freelance TV news and need a radio for each system or city I need to listen to.

1. This should be posted in either the California:Sacramento area thread, or the Uniden threads.
2. the answer;
I dont know how you programmed your frequncies into your radios, whether it was by hand or via computer program, but regardless of how you did it, you also need to program the specific type of trunking system - which in this case is Mot Custom/Reband. In addition to that, you also have to enter the bandplan manually.
so here goes:
(instructions by hand)
press the MENU side key
select "Program System"
select "New System" then enter
select "MOT TYPE2/P25" then enter
confirm "yes"
select "Edit Name" and enter the "rosevilleTRS" or whatever you want to name it
once finished naming:
scroll to "Edit Site" and select
select "New Site"
scroll down and select "800MHz Custom"
from here select "Set Frequencies"
enter the frequencies as you see them in the database.
once finshed entering the frequencies:
scroll to "Edit Band Plan" and select
select "Band Plan 1"
select "Set Base Freq"
you will see "Input Lower"
enter "851.0250" press enter(E Yes key)
now you should see "Input Upper"
enter "854.000" enter
scroll to "Set Offset" and select
you should see "Input Offset"
enter "440" enter
you should now see "Select Polarity"
pick the "+ Polarity" and press enter
scroll to "Set Spacing"
set to "25.0kHz" enter
you should be(at this point) back to the submenus of Band Plan 1
press menu
select "Band Plan 2"
select "Set Base Freq"
you should see "Input Lower"
enter "851.0125" then enter
you should now see "Input Upper"
enter "868.9875" then enter
select "Set Spacing"
select "25.0 kHz"
Once you've done these steps(and assuming that you have Roseville's talk group ID's already inputed) just exit the Menu system and start scanning.
If you dont have the TGID's inputed then, in the menu sytem, select "Program System-->(Roseville)-->Edit Sys Options-->ID Scan/Search-->ID Search. Exit menu.
Again, assuming you are within range, you should be receiving Roseville properly.
3. If you dont already have it, I strongly suggest using Freescan (ScanNow.org - The Home of FreeSCAN!)
or bctool(bcTool)
Both of these programs are free and very user friendly(in my opinion)
I use both, but prefer Freescan.
Try both and use the one you like. Donate to them if you can for their hard work.

Since you have FreeSCAN, here is an uplaod of my FreeSCAN file of my Roseville TRS.
Just unzip and save to desktop and open the file with your FreeSCAN. It has only the PD and FIRE TGIDs.
