is there anybody that travels route 8 north or south from waterbury to Bridgeport reason I'm asking is as I traveled this highway a lot and my 436 does not pick up the surrounding towns Seymour Ansonia Derby sometimes it won't even pick up Naugatuck I was just wondering if anybody else is having that experience the frequencies are programmed correctly. I do pick them up if I'm in that town. I don't know if they have anything to do with mountains but if there's anyone out there that's experience that problem please let me know. i am using a remtronix antenna thanks you

Ansonia, Derby and Seymour's frequencies for all services are not digital and are not encrypted. Check to make sure you have the correct frequencies and PLs/DPLs programmed. They are all operating fine. Nauguatuck PD is P25 digital and not encrypted. Naugatuck Fire is analog and still on the same frequencies. Naugatuck EMS is on the CLMRS system, but I can hear them on their old UHF channel while in town.

I think your main problem is if you do not have an external antenna for your portable scanner, the signal to your "rubber duck" antenna on is to blame. This is your vehicle with all the steel and all the electronics are "attuning" the signal, basically blocking its full strength, for lack of a better explanation.

I live in the area and have no issues with listening to the towns you have described.

I have everything from Naugatuck all the way to Shelton programmed in a zone on my Unication G3. I travel sometimes from Meriden to the valley. I get excellent coverage on all towns from Naugatuck to Shelton on Route 8 once I come off I-84. I keep my pager clipped to my visor, with no outside antenna. Check your programming and try a different antenna.

For now, anyway
No "E" right now as there wont be upgrades yet for those departments. For the "D", the plan is you'll still be able to hear a certain FD as the old frequency will be crossed banded to the new. That is the listening plan for now from what I'm hearing as an officer.
