Can anyone please confirm what UNIT the RR databases are in specific regards to the RANGE of each repeater or broadcast tower etc.
Ie nearly all of the NSW GRN (PSN) towers read as having range of 25 but nowhere I see states units of measure - km or mi?
Keeping in mind its a worldwide site and appears us centric I'm hesitant to assume either

As my handheld can switch from miles to km it shall make a difference with gps mode

I'm here a lot
Being that RadioReference is a US based business, the range is in miles. For myself in Canada, I take this into consideration with the kilometre range when doing database updates and adjust accordingly.
Another American idiosyncrasy is the political divisions of Counties or Parishes. In Canada, we have political districts of Counties, Regions, Districts, Municipalities, however these must be all stated as Counties in the Canadian database.

Lol. It's way worse than that. Every province does it a little differently and in the case of QC and ON, every few years, the legislature goes in and changes everything around! Now that I'm back in Canada, I see that Ontario seems to be going towards Upper Tier/Lower Tier/Single Tier regardless of whether it's a city, town, township, village, etc.

The fun part is that "county" isn't really right in each of the 50 states - LA has parishes (it was part of New France at one point) and AK has boroughs.

"Primary subdivision" would be a better title, but that would confuse 90% of the users here who have no idea that there are things other than counties.

I'm in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell so am learning all about how that county is divided up. Interestingly, the "united" part isn't from the 1998 re-arrangement, but from the one in 1820.

Now I need to learn about DMR Tier 3 since all the FDs in the county seem to be on a VHF Bearcom system.

Just FYI, that "Range" is just a guess that whichever 'RR Admin', that worked that submission, put in that colum.

There's actually more to it than just a 'guess'; the range that's used is what's typical for the frequency band and the use case, as well as what's reasonable for scanners using GPS range settings.

As well as the intended coverage area (probably what you meant by "use case", just expanding on that for others reading), which in many cases works out to be the rough boundaries of the agency/village/town/city/county/etc. Find the center point of the intended coverage area, then set a reasonable radius that covers the area. Imperfect science, of course, given that borders are never perfect circles.
