RRDB Admins have been advised to check for listings that have duplicate Alpha Tags and/or Descriptions for an agency's frequencies or Talk Groups. These should be unique and having several frequencies all listed as "Police Tac" or similar is a source of confusion for the scanner user. If there is nothing apparently unique about each we are to just arbitrarily number them 1, 2, 3 etc..

I have been going through the Upstate counites in my area of responsibility and making minor changes where necesary. I found Essex County was a particular problem, primarily due to the multiple tower sites for Police, Fire and EMS being indicated in the Descriptions but all with the same Alpha Tag. I resolved this by adding a letter site designation to each entry. I also found other cases of agencies with multiple identical Tags and/or Descriptions I corrected by adding numbers.

This is a work in progress with minor changes in other counties but my changes to Essex were so extensive I felt I should explain what is going on. If the agency actually has a unique number or name for the listings I have arbitrarily numbered please submit the information so the RRDB can show the official name for the frequency. Please keep this in mind for submissions. A submission of just a list of frequencies for an agency with no description of actual use and designation will be rejected or held for clarification.
