Hello,

I am looking for some help with my RS PRO-96. Besides outdated, I really like this scanner and wanted to know if still usable nowadays.

I am located in Central FL, in the Orlando/Clermont region but totally lost as far as unencrypted frequencies go, so I really appreciate a hand here.

Thank you

Dan

Basically with regards to the system linked above, any talkgroup ID'ed as mode "D" is "clear". Mode "DE" talkgroups are fully encrypted and cannot be picked up with any radio not intended to operate on the system. Orlando Police are fully encrypted. Also expect simulcast distortion while monitoring Orange County Simulcast & Orlando Simulcast.

Police & Fire are fully encrypted in Lake County / "Clermont region"

There are multipath mitigation steps you can try in the simulcast distortion link I gave but they don't work in every case. In conclusion a Uniden SDS100 (or SDS200) would be much more suitable to track what is trackable on this & other simulcast systems.

Thank you very much! I will have a look at these frequencies.

You only need to enter the 4 control channel capable frequencies (In red): Frequency Mode is MOT.

RFSSSiteNameFreqs

In Settings, Bank Type is Motorola. Leave both Mot 3600 Systems Bandplan and Mot 9600 Systems Bandplan set to Normal.

Actually, quite often a Pro-96 or Pro-2096 also need custom tables for this to work. Unlike newer radios, simply entering the control channels isn't enough. Trust me, I have a Pro-96.

The PRO-96 and PRO-2096 are both capable of control channel only trunking. A custom bandplan is not necessary when using 800 MHz frequencies in a P25 system. I have programmed several and they all work. You would need custom trunking tables for a Motorola Type II system using rebanded 800 MHz frequencies. Any frequencies other that 800 MHZ would require a custom bandplan for either Motorola Type II or P25 systems. The PRO-96 and PRO-2096 do not load the bandplan from the control channel.
