RS Pro 97 manual programming ease?

I have had a BC245XLT for the last 5 years and want to get a new scanner. I do not need digital . I will be scanning a Motorola Type 2 trunked system for Kankakee County along with a EDACS Standard system for Will County....I live in Bourbonnais, Illinois.. Anyway, is the Pro 97 easy to program? I programmed my BC245XLT manually and had no problem. Thanks...... Damon

never seen such a mess!! BC's are easy compared to this 97, the manual is very confuseing to me and Ive programed many scanners and commericial radios over the yrs.

Wish I could remember who posted this pdf so I could give credit to them, but here is a easy enough to read reference card in Pdf format.

I had the pro 97 programmed in less than 5 minutes when I got mine reading the manual that came with it.

When I got my 97 I forced myself to go through the book and program in my local TRS stuff manually, so I would know how to do it.
I then immediately bought Win97 and the GRE computer cable and donated to RR. It is much easier to program via computer, but I'm glad I learned the manual way too! I'm not always near my computer, and often need to program in the field.

First of all, I want to say hello to everyone, I have been viewing this website for quite a while and have really enjoyed reading the conversations on here. I just bought a Radio Shack pro 97 and a first grader I think could program that scanner. Its great and I look forward to many hours of entertainment on it.
