I have owned a sds100 for approx 2 years. I just put a skyband antenna in my attic which is the 3rd story. This has improved the reception a lot. I did notice that the rssi reading is better but still -50--100 dbm. I have 100 feet of rg6 coax that is double shielded. Although I am very happy with the improvement of the reception audio just wondering if the rssi reading is typical. Thanks

Are that amazon coax of a lower grade as it says: "This ultra low-loss cable features a loss per 100 feet rating of only 6 dB." RG6 has 6dB attenuation at 800Mhz and 100ft. Attenuation.indd (multicominc.com)

I recommend to enable the attenuator to those sites or frequencies that show -70dBm or stronger signals to help the receiver work better. You can always install an amplifier at the antenna and it will improve weak signals, -100dBm, more than 4 times, if you need to receive them better. You will need to attenuate at the scanner to get an almost zero gain from antenna to scanner or it will overload more easily.
