What would cause the RSSI signal bars in the display window only show 1 bar at all times on a WS 1040 ? i checked the RSSI #'s in the expert setting's with my WS 1040 & they were both the same, but my WS 1040 show's many bars to where the WS 1040 i programed shows only one.

What software are you using and what are the values for each of the 5 bars? Are you using the same type of antenna on both scanners? Try swapping antennas.

Don't use software i do it all manually, RSSI bar #1 =190, #2=230, #3=260, #4= 290, #5=320 & it's programed for the County of Leavenworth, Ks & that's where i live & the scanner is programed same as my WS 1040 & mine works very good.

I called G&G communication & he said the 1040 had a bad internal problem, G&G told me to checked the antenna & it was solid & they said to return the scanner. Tks for all the help

Before you return the scanner, try swapping the antennas! The antenna could be defective. Also, is it the same type of antenna on both scanners? Different types of antennas can show a drastic difference in signal level on different bands.

If the bad scanner has trouble receiving, that is a definite indication of a problem. The GRE PSR-500, Radio Shack PRO-106, Radio Shack PRO-651, and Whistler WS1040 are all based on the same GRE design and have a history of the solder connection breaking between the antenna connector and the circuit board. How does reception compare with the 2 scanners on NOAA weather?

Yes, had that happen on both my Pro106 and PSR500. Not to bad to dis-assemble and fix.
