Russellville PD is on AWIN, but you won't be able to listen because they are ENCRYPTED.
Here is their "explanation" :

"With the AWIN system our radio traffic will be encrypted. We know that for some people this will be a disappointing revelation. We understand that some of the community monitors our traffic on scanners that they have purchased. We have already received feedback from some of the community on anticipating the change; of course not all of it was positive.

We have made this change due to communications and operational security reasons. We have noticed that not all of the monitoring of our system with scanners was done with good intentions. On numerous occasions criminals were using it to track our locations and to deter their capture."

Using Unitrunker, I was able to locate and verify a new encrypted talkgoup on the White Oak tower. This is disappointing, to say the least.

Interesting and disappointing. I'm sure it's been hashed out countless times on this forum and others but I don't think this is right. When equipment is purchased with tax payer money...well, no use going through the whole thing again.

I can understand having 1 or 2 secure channels for tactical situations, but to blackout ALL communication is just too much. By the way, the talkgroup number I found is 42800, not that it matters.

Go ahead and officially submit it as the PD Dispatch ENC and I will work it in the DB. Even if we can't monitor it, we need the data. TY!:D
