Continuation of this thread:
Rutgers Bus Frequencies

Regarding license this link:
https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/license.jsp?licKey=4669872

Someone in the area has recently tested these frequencies out. Their findings indicated that second one (464.5875mhz) is the one which receive the majority of the traffic. However something interesting happens, sometimes the radios on buses would rotate between frequencies. The radios on the buses would still receive all of the frequencies but someone monitoring it on a scanner conventionally would need to jump around. Any idea on what kind of system that is? Also what would the correct configuration would be to montior this?

Thanks

The license shows analog FM, FB2, which would be a conventional repeater.

Doesn't mean they are not running something else, but that's what the license shows.

Continuing a 10 year old thread which has long been closed, huh? I'll take a complete stab in the dark and say MotoTRBO Capacity Plus based solely on your description of what someone else told you & nothing else. Even though emissions show analog conventional I wouldn't rule out some sort of DMR usage but it's hard to go by a license alone. Why not have said "someone in the area" jump on the forums and give us their findings?

464.5875 is for the New Brunswick campus. New Brunswick has the largest fleet, so they have their own frequency. In the radios, this is Channel 1. 461.7625 is probably for Newark and Camden campuses, referred to as Channel 2. I cannot confirm, but I have definitely heard symmetrical communication patterns from another frequency in the background of the dispatch office when transmitting on Channel 1. What I can say for sure is there is no DMR today, as less than 1% of the fleet is equipped with DMR-capable radios. In addition, DMR is not in the cards for First Transit anytime soon as the new buses for the New Brunswick campus that arrived this year have Vertex VX-2100 radios.

If your source was hearing DMR, there is another station that has co-channel interference on 464.5875, irrelevant to First Transit's utilization.

This license is new, as there was a period when the operations were unlicensed after the original license lapsed in 2021. Therefore, the classification of FB2 is accurate on paper and in production.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I'll be that way tomorrow to tune into it.

You're absolutely right. I was astonished and puzzled by their findings and wanted to see what the experts here has to say about it.
