Hello all,

I was on fb this morning and there was a guy in the 9700 fb group who posted in sat setup. He is using a device called S.A.T. According to the manufacturer the device can control radios and rotators. Do any of you use it ? if so does it work well ?

Many thanks

Seems like quite a gizmo. I have been using WXtrack for years. The serial port will control a host of alt/az mounts for dishes and arrays.
I have a 1.2 meter dish with an affixed VHF/UHF Yagi and it can follow such as ISS, AMSAT and others.
The prerequsite is keeping the TLEs up to date.
I guess if you wanted to go portable or mobile, this little box would come in handy.

Do you tune the radio manually ? WXtrack does not appear to have CAT control for radios.

I saw one in use during Field Day last year. I believe it not only automatically controlled az./elev., but also auto doppler shift on an IC9700. Looked pretty dang cool to me!

I agree, just not sure what more it would get me when compared to a good software solution. I installed the software that @tweiss3 mentioned on post #4 and it works well. Since i'm not operating mobile i don't see a big incentive to use the S.A.T box unless i'm missing something.

Just stumbled on this thread. S.A.T Box is the way to go for sure. Someday I will have a 9700 and a rotor. Til then I'm waving my handheld antenna around. LOL.

Watch the video to see how easy it is. It controls everything....
