I just realized that this is an old thread that I have posted on before, I thought this was a new thread. Anyway, I always hear the alerts when they're announced. Loud, clear and complete.

We also use "Alert" in Bergen County. It's an encrypted talkgroup on the P25 system that every jurisdiction in the county was issued a radio to in their dispatch center. I mostly use SPEN to call the next town over, but depending on the bulletin or message can broadcast it over both.

Alert is great for sensitive info like names, giving phone numbers over the air to another town or alerting an agency to an incident you're trying to keep confidential and out of sight from the listening public. Also comes in handy if your phone lines are down and being routed to another dispatch center, they can call you over Alert for incidents so you can still dispatch.

All Alert radios transmit an Id number corresponding with the agencies ORI number so you can't use it like SPEN for entertainment purposes!
Bergen County Alert is Station use only. No cars or portables have access (so they say) so I would expect SPEN to remain so during pursuits units can communicate with each other directly. But some smart radio savy dispatchers may end up patching the systems.....

Anybody want to tackle why halfway through the repeat of every message it cuts out?
Does it on both my analog & digital, so I know it's not me.

For Ocean County, I'd imagine them using their Countywide Broadcast Messages channel more often than SPEN. RR lists 506.6375 for this, but I am not sure if this is now just a backup channel since they also have it listed as TG 5006 on their P25 system.
Never heard a peep on either one in Toms River.

MOCIB (BOLOs) messages are normally broadcasted across all the LE TGs on the trunked system via patching/multiselecting and the remaining conventional LE channels (Seaside Heights and Park)

What GTR said.

I have tried to advise someone at Burlington County about this but I haven't had much luck.

Burlington is one of the few that makes the effort to get the message out on both SPEN and the TRS each and every time. I hear BurlCo SPEN every day. I have not noticed anything. I will take a closer listen.

It happens on my 996P2 & the old analog I use for BC Dispatch, Forest Fire & SPEN simultaneously.
So I know it's not on me.
There were like two times that they made the preceding alert, but I didn't get the actual transmission.

That is odd. As I say I'm right on the other side of the Burlington-Bristol Bridge on the river across from Burlington City and SPEN 1 is a very active frequency. I receive "21's" or roll call radio checks from the state police, from West Trenton and Hamilton and other locations depending on conditions.

I hear bolo's from Burlington County on a regular basis, loud and clear, they also request canine assist for certain districts who have a need, also request for Spanish speaking officers for certain districts that have a need.

Late at night I will hear all kinds of bolo's from around the state, a little staticky but pursuits, bad car wreck mutual assist.

I would think you would be able to hear BURCO on SPEN 1, I assume it's being transmitted from Westampton, around 541 and Woodlane Road? Should come in loud and clear in Pemberton.

I'm curious, do you get all of the fire towers on the NJFFS. Apple pie, Lakewood?

Yep, time out timer has a short fuse. I have heard many messages now, shorter ones are fine. Hitting TOT about 45 seconds or so. Just tripped on weapon shown BOLO Deborah Hospital.

I'm wondering if there's another way of getting them besides (SPEN 1) 154.6800

All I've ever heard here in Pemberton is the BOLO on Ch1, nothing else on the other three channels. And that's with two different scanners going. As far as Fire Towers I can get Apple Pie, Medford, Lebanon, Cedar Bridge & sometimes others like Lakewood, Basto & Bass River if the atmosphere is right.

We still get action on SPEN in Essex County..... I think Morris does a lot on their system, forgetting name at this time and Union County does a lot on what they call the Hotline....
