Saco PD has moved to a phase I digital system. They'll be keeping the old VHF system for interoperability purposes. Mobile RX 857.0125, Mobile TX 812.0125, NAC 472

Rather than re-invent the wheel. Would it be easier and less expensive to look into going on the existing state P25 system?
it is a public safety system isn't it?

Is the 800 patched to the VHF? How are they maintaining interop with agencies that do not have 800 capabilities?Saco PD has moved to a phase I digital system. They'll be keeping the old VHF system for interoperability purposes. Mobile RX 857.0125, Mobile TX 812.0125, NAC 472

To provide coverage for Police/Fire in-building would require much more infrastructure.
and they are not meant to be used for that type of operation. The on-board Repeaters are for that single cruiser and to request and need to wait 20-30+ min for a response is OFFICER SAFETY, o wait.. how can I call to ask for them, when my radio is not working inside the building.Just to add onto this real quick, many (I think most) state police vehicles have L3Harris 800MHz DVRS repeaters which does provide some help with in building coverage but only when needed.
You can use a DVRS for whatever you want. What I outlined was a hypothetical situation. It goes without saying that 800 gets through buildings better. By adding my comment about DVRS it only provides further information about the system. A system this thread isn't even meant to be about.and they are not meant to be used for that type of operation.

Yeah... its not.IT IS NOT a solution to the coverage issue
You mention State Police have, and that would require a request to the Maine State Police to Respond, therefore a request would have to be made....???
Bill I am having a hard time deciphering your comment here. A DVRS has no impact on response time and response time and officer safety was not part of my original comment.

Only a tourist to 207, but have worked 39+ years in public safety, and a DVRS is a tool, but not a solution to providing in-building coverage
GraniteScanner said:I make no such mention of that. DVRS is separate from region nets if there was some confusion there.
