Hello All,
I'm new here, although I've been lurking for years. I really don't want to cross any etiquette boundaries as I know what pain that can be for all...so if I do, this being my first post I apologize in advance.
I live in the foothills between Fontana and Upland, I currently own 2 scanners, a Pro-528 (RS-800 Antenna) and a Pro-668 (Diamond RH77CA Antenna). I have had great success with my Pro-528 where I live at about 1800' up, my main interest has always been in SB System 9 (Upland,Montclair,Chino and Ontario...along with Fire dispatch/com center).
Buying the Pro-668 has opened all kinds of doors for me, I've had it for a few weeks now and love it. Kind of bummed out about some of the encryption issues but oh well, what can you do. The reason I started this thread was to both introduce myself and and talk about the SB P25 system.
I programmed the entire SB P25 system into my Pro-668 along with the San Manuel P25 to test the limits of my Pro-668, I have them in playlists along with all of the local PD's as mentioned above. Up until about a week and a half ago the SB P25 system was relatively quiet with the exception of a few radio checks here and there and some garbled transmissions periodically.
All that has changed though, SB P25 is loud and clear and it seems that Fontana PD has transitioned over to it, or at least some of their units have. In detail from where I live about 15 miles from the heart of Fontana and a little less to where Ontario dispatches from, the P25 has completely drowned out Ontario who had normally monopolized my scanning. I can hear dispatch to all areas of Fontana, it's pretty awesome actually, the digital signal is unbelievably clear for the most part, depending alot on who is dispatching and the strength of their voice.
I have my squelch set at about 11:00 on the dial, that seems to keep everything evened out. I do have a wildcard programmed into the SB P25 and have locked out quite a few encrypted channels. It's going to be fun listening to this system roll out. I just thought I would note here my findings, please feel free to contribute, it's nice chat with people around the area about our local systems.
Also...Haven't heard anything from San Manuel P25.
