Nice one Mike:) it looks like that g5rv is doing just fine! Did you work out the noise issue-I noticed in listening to your soundclips that the broadband noise you got didn't affect reception of actual signals one bit..it was just an annoyance between signals. Nice antenna for sure!

I got everything all fixed up. I had to move my antenna to the other side of the roof. I spent about 3 hrs on the roof with a handheld and was in 3 rain storms tracking down the noise (It was a power line). No more RFI at all. Ohh and the kenwood r-600 is in the closet boxed up. When my daughter gets older i will give it to her.

Ahh great news man! So cool to see someone be proactive like that then reap results. Like I said-it takes trial and error up there on the roof. Lots of folks won't budge once they set something for fear of making it worse. I cannot tell you how many times I have been up there changing-moving-modding till it was perfect. Now I enjoy reliable quiet reception. Happy DXing Mike:)

I'm hearing some RFI in that recording. It's a repetitive sound... not quite a hum but it's definitely there. Does your SDR-IQ come with a shielded USB cable?

The guy who I bought the used Perseus from gave me a USB cable with a ferrite installed. I need to pick up a longer cable anyway, so I'm going to buy this one here. It is shielded and has two ferrites installed to prevent any RFI from the computer.

That's strange - all I ever hear on 13354 is Noo Yoik and occasionally Santa Maria - NY is burbling away very quietly under the noise at the moment and it's justpast middday here. He/she will come up better with the gray line later in the afternoon.
