In my prior RR files, it had the San Mateo County Sheriff, EMS, SPCA, etc. using the P25 system on the 482 MHz frequency. Now when I update this system using the RR DB, everything shows to be in the 700 MHz range. I do not hear anything on 700 MHz. What happened to the 482 MHz system? Is it still being used?

I should be able to hear them since I'm in the middle of the county, but I hear nothing on any channel. Do I need to enable something on the 996P2 ??

The system type that is uploaded is defined as P25 Standard Trunk. There is another system type option: P25 One-Freq Trunk. I also have the ID Scan / Search set to ID Scan.

Am I missing something? I imported this from RR.

If you imported from here, you shouldn't need to do anything. Did you import all the sites?

You could be in a multipath pocket. Try moving your radio antenna a few inches over and see if it makes a difference.

I moved the antenna onto a window ledge, still nothing. I also have the new 700 MHz system in my 996XT and neither is receiving anything on the P25 system. I don't think there is such a thing as a "digital" antenna..

Maybe they are using phase 2 talkgroups. The 996xt won't pick those up. Do you see anything on the signal meter when you scroll through the control channels?

As I scroll through the control channels, I just hear normal unsquelched static. The modulation type is set at NFM is that correct?

Turn the squelch up, don't leave it open. Do you see anything on the signal meter?

Yes, I see the 1st block and sometimes the second block flash. But this is just the background noise I squelched. Could the control channels have changed since the DB was last updated? I should at least be able to hear the digital signals on the control channels..

If you are receiving a signal but no Audio, then that means it is Phase2 digital and it is time to buy another scanner since the 996 cannot receive P25 Phase 2!

I am using both a 996P2 & the 996XT. We (San Mateo County) has not moved yet to Phase 2.

You must be. If you can receive a signal but don't hear anything on the talk groups that's a sign of Phase II talkgroups.

Who says I am receiving a signal from the control channels? The 996P2 is Phase 2 compliant, and it doesn't receive anything either. Seeing the signal meter indicate one maybe two squares doesn't mean I'm getting "signal". It's registering the background noise.

Unless you're telling me that the data signal on the control channels is sub-audible? Shouldn't the 996P2 automatically decode a Phase 2 signal? BTW, RR shows it to be P25 Phase 1.

we don't know what your experiencing and we are only going off what your telling us. if you knew what was going on, you wouldn't be asking us. Based on our experience, we gave our opinion on what's happening.

On p25 systems, yes, you don't hear control data channel if you programmed it as a system you are currently scanning.

For now the DB does say phase 1 yes. But is it possible It could have changed to phase 2 and no one told us? yes.

My apologizes. I'm just frustrated with this issue. I am using the 996P2 to do my testing, so it's Phase 2 compatible. I just uploaded the county P25 system to the 996P2 using ARC-XT Pro, and I still do not see anything on the signal meter. I'm wondering if the county either changed the control frequencies or the order they are scanned. All my analog systems are working fine.

The current data channel for the simulcast site is 773.48125. Perhaps you can try receiving that frequency conventionally to see if you hear or see anything on the signal meter. I'm picking this up from the San Leandro hills, so I am line of site across the Bay. The Brisbane site comes in much better for me and the data channel currently is 773.88125 for that site.

I'm listening to the Simulcast site with a control channel of 773.4812 in the south bay and i'm getting 2 bars, but I can hear traffic, and it's showing as P25 phase I
