I wasn't sure where to place this.
I had seen these units being used by some Tier 1 types awhile back. Then, saw them in a picture in a Drive article. Latest find was a discussion on USSS comm assets.

RF-EMI guy found the company that made some of the protoypes; they were ITT branded.

Just now (perhaps I've seen this before, I am unsure) found a page on the Harris site for what I had seen a long while back. Perhaps others will want to chime in; be interesting to know more about what birds they occupy, and accessories and things...

RO® Tactical SATCOM Radio

Bland little things, aren't they? Almost remind me of some kind of Ritron rebirth lol

Anyway, if there are other discussions on here, I didn't see them.

If you're looking to purchase a solution I have used the Icom IC-SAT100 radios. They use the Iridium satellites. You designate your area and pay the plan. I would not say the Icom option is "tactical" though. They also have an "Extreme" handheld and a mobile version which also use the Iridium satellites.

It takes a lot of code to corelate frequency hopping, I don't see it in the future DSD+.
Alternate modes include direct digital spread spectrum. (Sheesh)
