I have some Forest Service information on the system from the late 80's and it wasn't called "Dispatch Net" in that info. It was called the "South Zone Dispatcher's Network" at that time. "Dispatch Net" would be an abbreviation and is probably used in some frequency guides. The name is important to differentiate it from the "North Zone" system. The Zones are now called "Geographical Area Coordination Centers" and in California as commonly known as "South Ops" and "North Ops" by agency personnel.

I looked thru the 2005 Mobilization Guide today - I did not see any reference to the North Zone Net nor the South Zone Net. Maybe they have been both taken out of service. Peter sz
