Scan Memphis live feed

I've added video to the live feed so you can see what your listening too. Only alternative to buying a Uniden or something else that's computer controlled. It's kinda temporary though, until I figure out a better system. I have to leave the capture window on top of everything so it's kinda in the way, but other than that, it's pretty good. Tell me what ya think. Oh and the max # of listeners now is only 10. So if you get a busy message, try again.

Thanks! That's the clearest I can get it without making the stream too big. It's already at 30kbps so do that math and that's only 10 listeners max. I've been playing around with it a bit. I might stumble across a better display.

well scratch that for now, the cam decided to crash my computer so i had to take it off. Until I can find some different drivers.

What type of radio do you have? Maybe you can use icecast instead and just put the alpha tags in the stream. Many other's are doing just that. Although I have seen it with a screen capture or something like on some others using windows media player.

My preference is using winamp.

cant put alpha tags in the stream, i'm using a radioshack pro-2096, no computer control. Oh well, as soon as I get some new driver's, I'll have it back up.

Do you happen to know where I could find an onslow county NC scanner on the web?

I browsed a little this morning but couln't find anything. Do a search in google and search for live scanner or police scanner for that area. Try cities in the county too.

I'm not sure on what countys they have, but I do know that they have several feeds for NC on this web site.......http://www.police-scanner.info/live-police-scanners.htm

This is what I used before Thomas came along with his wonderful scanner feed....Now all I use is his, when I want to listen and don't feel like turning all of my stuff on......But that site should help you....

Help Me Listen

Could someone give me a short tutorial on how to pick up this feed? I'm using a WinXP Pro Toshiba laptop with 1.25gig of ram. I click on it but don't hear anything. It appears to be Real Player but not sure. I used to pick it up using Virtual PC on a Mac but now that I've switched to the laptop I'm not getting it. Wonder what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

You can pick it up with anything that can play a .asx file. It's made with Windows Media. So if you have something that can play windows media files it should work.

I knew the .asx feed should allow me to pick up your site but I'm still having trouble. I've obviously got something wrong but will keep trying. I think the Toshiba might have taken upon itself to associate another program instead of real player.

That's very possible....see if you can change the program defaults and if that doesn't work, try to put the link to the feed in manually and see if it works.

I used to be able to see the scanner. Now I can only hear it and get random video visualizations.

I took down the video for now.....It was causing my computer to crash at times....it will be down at least till I can get some more ram. Plus I can have more listeners this way too without having to pay for a stream host.
