I bought Scancat for my pro-97 (Did not realize Don had software for my scanner) and cannot get it to work quite right. Win97 (the demo) works flawlessly and has more features, and is 5 bucks cheaper. Next week, i plan on reg'ing Win97 and shelving the Scancat (Wonder if i can get a refund?).
My problems (with scancat) :
1) Sometimes it (finally) gets to 100%, but almost always gives me errors / corrupt data.
2) it seems really slow and crash prone. (P4 PC with 1 gig of ram)
3) data (almost always) gets distorted. sometimes really bad.
I have tried fiddling with the baud rates and settings, but same result. I am assuming my setup is okay because the Win97 works without ANY problems. Has anyone else had these problems and know a good fix?
On a lighter note, this is my first post. Hate to make it a negitive one. This is a great community and has helped me alot. The pro-97 (which i bought today (12-31-05)) is
awesome, despite reviews on RS's site saying "its hard to use". I guess people don't take
into account that todays radio systems are more complex and thus take a little work to follow. This thing is packed with features, and sounds great! (Stereo headphone jack OMG!!!)
Anyway thanks to all and have a good new year!
