Soccer refs

Since when to baseball umpires have radios or one way links? Not to my knowledge.

Soccer refs have radios or at least a 1 way rx only link.

Dave

All top league FIFA sanctioned refs have two way. So that the ref on the field can communicate with the side judges and 4th official with the number board. Just not sure what freq. they run in MLS.

Update from Seattle. Centurylink field home of the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL and Seattle Sounders of major league soccer can be monitored. They're on a LTR system.

Safeco field home of ONLY the Seattle Mariners can also be monitored. They're on a series of UHF frequencies, some simplex some repeater. I CAN monitor both venues from my home, no problem.

The crowd noise and interference from the structures themselves make it IMPOSSIBLE to monitor inside either venue .

I like to watch sporting events and listen to the scanner radio chatter at the same time. Especially during NFL games.

I brought my scanner to Safeco Field in 2012 and listened to the stadium operations frequencies just fine. I've had problems in other arenas with the scanner getting overloaded with signals but scanning with the correct PL/DPL tones entered got rid of that. If not, I'd turn on the attenuator.

Just get racing headsets. $20-$30 is all you need to spend. Plugs right in, plays on both sides. Also you can custom turn up & down the volume to each side too.

I use that at IndyCar races in the pits covering them. This video, all the audio was recorded with an in ear mic normally used to record phone conversations. You hear the cars, but the radio is nice and clear. Takes about a minute before the driver who's audio this is comes into the pits, and well that is what you see and hear in the pits of an IndyCar race.
