Scanner Buff Meeting

Just checking to see if anyone is interested in getting together for an informal meeting. This would be a great way to meet people, to share idea's to look at one anothers scanner equipment, etc., etc., etc.

Post your opinions, if there is enough interest, we can work on the details (Location of meeting, Date and Time, etc.) later.

Has this been done before. Are there meetings in big cities like Kansas City, Witchia, Topeka?

Yeah, that would be fun, I dont think anyone has done it before in this group. I guess we need to pick a central location for Kansas.. How about Salina? In the middle of no where, center of Kansas.

Hey Rick, there is a HAM swap meet coming up pretty soon here in Wichita. Cool time to pick up some new toys. I know Salina has a big HAM community as well. Could you check and see when they might have there swap meet? Would be a good time to do a meeting.

I see 32 people have viewed this topic and only one has replied so far. That is a shame, I was hoping more people would be interested in getting together.

Not in to ham, but would be willing to bring my scanner stuff and meet people there if a joint ham, scanner get together worked.

Well if you need a place for the meeting and you want it in Salina, I can furnish a meeting room depending on the date.

Anywhere is fine, Salina was suggested because of location I believe.
If you're into places where nothing happens (except car stops and dog catching) Atchison is the place to be! You can pick up Kansas City (both Mo & Ks) from here, as well as St Joseph Mo (almost as bad as Atchison) all 3 have TRS's. STJ PD & FD are still using the 460 MHz freqs as primary freqs not the TRS, so you'd hear only the city buses and city crews (parks, sewer, etc.. ) on the TRS.

So I'd say Atchison (the armpit of Kansas) is out. Any other suggestions?


And to answer Buckskinner: I believe most of us already have plans this weekend.

Yeah I fiqured that! I just didnt have any plans, Kids gone, wifes at work and its me, the cats and a garden I'm tired of working in.
