Hey guys,
I'm in the market ($500-$800) for a new desk for my radios. I have some large (Icom746PRO, Icon R8500, Icom 7000, AOR7030, AOR5000) and some small radios (Uniden 996T, 996XT, 780, HP536, Optoscan, RS2035) and numerous accessories. I'm not interested in making a desk, but I am interested in any kit (Sauder, O'Sullivan etc.) that one of you may have purchased and are satisfied with.
Any suggestions?
TIA
John

Have you considered rack mounting? A couple of 10/12u rack enclosures and the proper panels can make for a very nice install.

Have you checked Staples, Office Depot/Office Max or your local office supply? They may be able to order a specific desk you're looking for. I purchased my radio desk (oak with Accuride drawer slides, 60"L x 30"H x 37"D) for around $800, from my local office supply.

Good luck in your search.

Uggh, I would have seconded the suggestion about road cases, you may be able to find a road case shop to build a really cool custom setup.

check on Craig's list. there are tons of desks available, some very, very nice. I'm not a fan of the kits.

When you get it set up, you'll need to update and post your shack photos so we can see the finished result. :)

I bought an Ikea Galant corner desk used for $75 a few years ago. A little Goo Gone cleaned up some spots with leftover residue.

What I like most is that it's height adjustable and very sturdy. I could likely stand on it, but am not willing to test that out.

Looks nice but I need something larger. Best of luck with it and thank you for responding.

You might consider finding two of (something like) these and making a U desk. For what it's worth, I have a desktop PC, monitor, TV, ham radio with power supply, desk phone, cordless phone, speakers, laptop, and a lamp on one of these. They're fairly deep, especially in the corner.

Good luck on your search.
