I just put a permanent mount antenna in my vehicle. Since then my 2096 has a whistle that gets higher as I give more throttle. Will one of the those filter/antennuators from scanner master fix that. Or what do I need to get?

Thanks

Try a few things:

1. Take the antenna off the mount. Does the whistle go away? If so, it's coming thru the antenna. Try making about 5 or so 6" diameter loops in the coax with wire ties near the antenna mount.

If the whistle stays when you take the antenna off, it's probably coming in on the power to the radio. If it's in the power, go buy some clamp on ferrite chokes like you see on the power cord for a computer and put on the power leads near the radio.

2. Is it a GM? If so, run the power straight from the battery, along the LEFT fender. This is the GM recommended way for two way radio power. Fuse both the negative and the positive at the battery, and fuse the hot side again at the radio.

I'm not saying any of this will work, but it just might.
