On the subject of remotely controlling scanners, has anyone modified this to control a scanner over the Internet?

Can it even be done and if possible, how hard would it be to do so? It appears they are using CAT-5 between the remote head and box, so it's a step in the right direction.
Imagine having the Remote Head plugged into your router and interfaced with a scanner in another state/location using some software on the remote end. It would be like having coax hundreds of miles long
That would be awesome, especially for those of us who use remote scanners. Remote control on the PC is nice, but nothing beats hands on tuning.
I'm sure something like this could be done. Unfortunately I am not knowledgeable enough to do it
OK... enough of my wild dreaming
