I downloaded from RR's DB all conventional and trunked systems in Hinds, Madison and Rankin counties.

I then sent Jackson's trunk system (ONLY) to my scanner. My scanner scans the four Jackson police precincts, etc. successfully and I can hear the transmissions just fine.

I then sent Rankin county's trunk system to my scanner but I hear nothing.

Also, you could just enter all the frequencies in the list (here in the DB) and either run it in CCh only or not and see what happens.

UpRiver, try adding 853.3125 as an additional control channel, then see what happens. If no joy, add 853.5875.

There will not be more than one active control channel at any one time. My guess (coffee hasn't kicked in yet) is that 853.5875 may be a data channel, for MDT's.

This site has sound clips that may help you identify what you are hearing (Control channel? data?)

Hang in there. We'll figure this puppy out.
Okay, I added frequency 853.3125; I can now hear transmissions from many of the Rankin County system channels but not all; for example, I can now hear Richland PD great (5 bars and the 5th bar being colored) but Pearl PD which is a large municipality is dead silent but I still see 5 bars on Pearl Dispatch.

I let my scanner sit on Pearl dispatch for over 30 minutes and not one sound.

My scanner stops at 853.3125 now; I also added 853.5875 but it doesn't seem to have made a difference.

Maybe Pearl Dispatch is simply slow; in contrast Jackson PD is non-stop transmissions.

Thank you for your help; I appreciate it.

Are you using ID SEARCH or ID SCAN? ID SCAN will only stop on TG's you have programmed in - ID SEARCH stops on ALL TG's on the channel unless you lock them out. In my area there are a lot of TG's that don't appear in the RR DB so I use ID SEARCH - the same is probably true in your area.

It was set to ID SCAN so I changed it to ID SEARCH; I'll let you know.

Thank you.

Okay, everything looks to be working just fine now (I can now hear Pearl PD; heck I can hear it all baby and there is a heck of a lot to listen to; but I'm not sure which is more fun; scanning or programming the scanner :) ) thanks to all of you; I'm going to a dog show in Jackson and will scan some more this evening.

Thank you very much!!
