Recieved a new condition WS1040 radio . Need to find adiquite software . Been round and round on wiki, perhapts a floppy disk i can purchase will work,if such is available,any ideas? Other than thousand dollar radio purchase.

Mechanicsville looks to be within range of 3 (maybe 4) towers of the Hanover Simulcast. Expect a degree of simulcast distortion here with any non-Uniden SDSx00 scanner. Whistlers are particularly prone to it

You can use ARC500 or PSREdit500 software. Both are excellent programs and have a free trial period to decide which one you like better. I would avoid Win500. The author has disappeared, and some members have had problems obtaining keys after paying for them. I use Butel ARC500 Basic for my Radio Shack PRO-106, the older brother of your scanner. Both use the same software.
EZScanDigital v1.08 is the latest I have and works fine on my PSR800. Send me your email in a DM and I'll upload to Google Drive. It is too large for the RR server

You may be thinking about the WS1080 which uses EZ Scan. OP has a WS1040. EZ Scan does not work on that scanner.
