I downloaded the scannerbase for my BCD396T. It is awsome! I am using the record function, which is nice! My question is this: Is there a way to hear the audio while it is being recorded? As it is now, if you plug the cord from the speaker out on the scanner to the mic in on my laptop, I lose audio. The only way to hear the audio is to listen to the recording. I would like to be able to hear the audio while it records. If I could do this then if I leave the house or leave the room, I don't have to plug the cord in and out. Any suggestions?

Unmute the mic in your volume settings.
If the mic is muted, it won't record anything (it's essentially off). What might be wrong is that the volume level for the mic input is way down in Windows audio settings.

Its not like that on any of my computers (XP, XP Pro, ME). The mute just keeps the sound from coming out of the speakers.

I downloaded Scannerbase AVC396 last weekend. It's a great program. My compliments to the developer(s).

I've had it running and logging continuously for the last three days, searching specific frequency ranges and locking out the frequencies that I've identified. Later, I can go back and check the recordings for each unknown frequency.

The version I have is 7/26/05 and I'm wondering if there have been any updates since then. I find that about 10% or so of the wav files are empty (no audio). It seems like AVC396 starts recording and forgets to stop until the next hit. Some of the wav files get pretty big (4-7 mb or so).

Overall I really like it. This is one program that deserves some $$ from users.

NOW I have a different problem. It worked perfectly a couple days ago when I used it. I came home this morning opened up the software and..................... nothing. The window icon is on the tool bar, but the window is no where on the screen. It connects to the scanner and runs but I can't find the window. I have right clicked the icon on the toolbar and clicked "restore" but that does nothing. I have clicked "Move" and my cursor jumps to the top left of the screen but the AVC396 window is no where to be found.

I can open the software again and it will open up another window for AVC396 but I get an error message saying the com port is already in use. But the 2nd AVC window shows up. Any suggestions?

I emailed the creator of scannerbase and asked the same question as above on the window postition. Just in case you guys experience this, here is how to fix it.

He said that the short term fix is to delete the pgm_settings.txt form the directory in which you installed, this will reset the settings (including the position of the window which is the problem).

He said this is a known bug and has been fixed in the yet to be released final version. Deleting that .txt document fixed my problem.
