At the agency I work for, we use Motorola APX 8000 radios. I'm looking into acquiring a portable scanner to listen to truncated systems for calls outside of our area of responsibility. I'm wondering if there are any scanners on the market that functions similarly to public safety radios (specifically, APX portables). I want to be able to just listen to a specific talkgroup, quickly build a scan list, and organize talkgroups into zones. Having a channel select knob would be a plus. Any recommendations or explanation would be much appreciated!
