I'm afraid scanners will be useless in Kentucky if this kywins system gets going. I guess it also uses voice as well as instant msg. to talk to other agencies. Laurel county and Corbin already use mostly MDT for communications.
"network that allows officers to communicate via radio and instant messages from even the most remote areas in rural Kentucky" is voice going to be analog or what ? I see here its going to be part analog and part digital TRS. BTW no sites are even listed for the london, somerset area in the rr database where the test pilot is going. Does this also mean new radios for all first responders in Kentucky?
I was under the understanding that this was not a TRS that it was going to be a data only system to augment the current voice system, so basicly a big wireless network that can be accessed by local agencies as well.
