I am using a Uniden BCD396XT and I was wondering how I go about scanning digital frequencies. For example, I am interested in scanning channels for the CHP in my area:

39.26000 KVV806 RM 118.8 PL COP1 INL COPPER 1 - Arrowhead (101) / San Bernardino (75)
769.18125 RM DAE NAC COP1 EXT P Extender - COPPER 1 - Primary P25 Law
769.41875 RM DB1 NAC COP1 EXT A Extender - COPPER 1 - Alternate P25 Law
39.68000 KDG272 B 118.8 PL TRQ1 INL B Base - TURQUOISE 1 - Riverside (74) FM
42.02000 KA4993 M 118.8 PL TRQ1 INL M Mobile - TURQUOISE 1 - Riverside (74) FM
769.44375 RM DB3 NAC TRQ1 EXT P Extender - TURQUOISE 1 - Primary P25 Law
769.71875 RM DB8 NAC TRQ1 EXT A Extender - TURQUOISE 1 - Alternate P25 Law
39.88000 KMD453 RM 118.8 PL BEI1 INL BEIGE 1 - Rancho Cucamonga (123) FM Law
769.21875 RM DB0 NAC BEI1 EXT P Extender - BEIGE 1 - Primary P25 Law
769.93125 RM DBA NAC BEI1 EXT A Extender - BEIGE 1 - Alternate P25 Law

Some are conventional frequencies while others are on the P25 system. On my scanner, do I merely need to dial in the frequency? Or do I need to create a new system on the P25? I cannot tell if the system is trunked as they give no talk group IDs.

Hello bokaba,

The P25 CHP frequencies are for the officers mobile extender. You would have to very, very close to the officers vehicle in order to hear them. IMO, they're not worth programming in.

Also, bokaba, CHP is not a trunked system. Just program it as a regular conventional system. San Bernardino County does have an 800 Mhz non-digital Motorola trunked system though. Are you using any programming software for your 396XT?
