I live in south west licking co and I got a 436HP about a month or so ago. I am using sentinel and ARC software to set up my favorites.

My question is is there a strategy to scanning all the different systems? Currently I have a Licking Co favorite with department 1 In MARCS IP then department 2 MARCS 3.5, then a conventional department for law and one for fire. Should I set up 2 favorites lists one for licking conventional then one for licking trunked?

You should be able to put them all in one list and use quick keys to control therm. In my XT scanners I have the systems set up geographically (by county), so for example all systems in Licking County, MARCS, MARCS-IP, and conventional I have under the same system/site quick key for that county, with each agency controlled by a group quick key. This makes it easier too change as I travel and am able to monitor everything in that area.

Now my HP-2 doesn't have quick keys so I created a favorite list for each county and some specific areas/agencies of Franklin County. This makes it easier to enable/disable systems, less key strokes, which is quicker than avoiding/unavoiding them.

Ok thanks for the reply I did not know if switching systems in a favorite would slow down the scan vs having everything IP in a favorite and everything conventional in a favorite.

Now how far out do you set your sites for? If I enter all the IP sites and let the my location determine or do you load the sites?
