Hey everyone.
Just would like to introduce myself first. I'm a CB'er out of Witless Bay, Newfoundland, roughly 35KM south of St. Johns. Got into CB'ing when myself and a few buddies had them in our rigs a year ago, but everything is silent now aside from the guys in the states running huge amps.
Anyways, I'm looking to get a scanner now to run in my garage, as it's something that interests me. I'm looking at a Pro 2051 at the moment. But that's beside the point...
Will I be able to pick up much in my area? I know the RCMP are still using the older radios that can be picked up (No idea what system it is, just what a local officer told me) But I have no idea on the range a scanner can pick things up. There's lots of VHF chatter from the tourism boats off the coast (~5miles) so I guess I could snag that. Anyone on here that's in the area that can comment on if they're still picking much up? I'd be a little peeved if I spent 150 on the scanner and never picked up a sound lol. Thanks in advance, I appreciate it. All the best,
Hodder
