I am new to this forum so excuse me if I am in the wrong section.
I am having some difficulties with my version of the Scanstar Spectrum Manager IV software and my attempts to get some assistance from Scanstar are met with deafening silence.
Is anybody familiar with this software who may be able to assist. ?
My main problem is I cannot load up a scan list on "Signal Data Recorder" I have tried all variations , new files, etc. but the programme will not recognise anything. I am probably doing something "silly" but after a month of messing about, reading the instructions, etc I am no nearer getting the thing working.

Thanks

I've only had 1 email response from Sam Dunham, the owner of the company, for about 5 or 6 requests for help. I usually get a "sorry, I was sick / had some medical problems" excuse. The only way I got an immediate response was to stop by his booth at IWCE, and all he did was blame the radio for passing bad data.
I only use the traffic analyzer and scanner functions. I just tried the signal recorder function but it didn't show anything in the graph, even though I had it scan the 800Mhz control channel of the local public safety trunk system.
I didn't have a problem with loading the search range files that came with the program, nor 2 that I created.
I came to this forum to find a replacement program.

The PCR1500 isn't a scanner; it's a radio that does happen to scan. I'll have this moved to the Icom forum (or try to, anyway)...

The only software I can think of with a wide range of capabilities would be Syslabs RadioCtl (links are in blue). The website lists the 1500 as one it supports...

RadioControl - Modular Control Software for Radio Receivers and Transceivers

but perhaps a much better place to ask about software for this radio (and the more specific you make your request as to the capabilities of the software - what are you looking to do? - the better) would be the 1500's Yahoo groups. There are 2 that I know of, and maybe more..

ICOM-IC-R1500 : ICOM IC-R1500

PCR1500 : PCR1500

You might even find a solution to the Spectrum Manager problem you had described. Like I said before the more specific about the function(s) you are trying to accomplish, the more likely you'll get a more meaningful reply.

best regards..Mike

I attached a screen print of my 1500 running the signal data recorder.
All I did was click on the gray box with the 3 dots in the TYPE column and then choose one of my files which I had already created.

I had a weird problem running the traffic analyzer today, spectrum manager said it was holding and the status bar was red. All my Type fields showed empty, but the File, Title and Info columns all had the normal info that only shows up once a group or range is selected. All I did was to reselect the files and it started scanning.

Unfortunately nothing I do seems to bering up any entries in the scan list so I am unable to click the little grey box with the three dots. Would it be possible or you to do a quick idiots guide on your steps, from starting ScanStar, to get to the screen shown above. I must be doing something wrong but for the life of me I cannot find out what.

sorry for the delay, scanner has been tied up.

screen 1 is a group file that has the freqs to scan.
2 shows the Icom is selected as the radio to work with.
3 shows the traffic analyzer screen before I tell it which list to use
4 shows the files I can select from.
5 shows the analyzer working once I selected the icom451s file from the window in #4.
