What is the etiquette for requesting a QSL card in terms of distance?

There is a strong broadcaster (well at least I should be able to pick them up strongly as I live 45 minutes away) in Toronto. Is that 'too close' to request a QSL card?
They would appreciate a QSL from you, Mike. Broadcasters are always interested in seeing who is listening to them and how the reception is in their location. So go ahead, let them know what program you were listening to, what frequency you were listening on, a signal report and anything else that you want to tell them. Just follow the examples given earlier. Have fun, my friend!

If you want to compare to ham radio, there is no distance rule. I have QSL cards exchanged with operators from my own county/state. There are awards in ham radio that need contacts on different bands/modes (voice, cw, digital) with grid squares or counties or states in addition to countries.

There is no distance rule when asking for a QSL. I've asked and received a QSL from an AM broadcast station in person from the engineer and received it. He laughed when he got to the section where it listed the time and reception location and since the station audio was playing at the time, he checked his watch and wrote down that time and for the location put "Station On-Air Studio". Can't get much closer than that.

AFAIK, if you want to listen to a Canada shortwave broadcast station, CFRX is about all that remains.

Radio Marti booming in here tonight on 6030.
CFRX has a big signal on 6070 tonight.
WINS in NYC covers CFRB on 1010 here at night but the Toronto station
can usually be heard daytime at my Michigan QTH.
