While doing some traveling last week the power cord to my HT decided to quit working on me. While having breakfast I started up a conversation with a few locals and they suggested I check out a thrift shop that generally has a box of perfectly working transformers for $3 a piece. I stopped in and while going through the box of Transformers I noticed a box for a 436 sitting on a shelf. I asked the guy who was working the store about it and he told me that it was donated by a local man who purchased it not realizing that their area was fully encrypted and could not be monitored and was beyond his return window. He then offered me the scanner for $100. I left the store $103 less but a very happy man.

This proves that sometimes the best deals come at unexpected times. Thanks to a very lucky find I now have the best from Whistler and Uniden.

Thrift stores always come up with unexpected finds. Not the big boys like Goodwill, but the small mom and pop ones, who don't have a guy in the back sorting to sell on eBay. I found an XTL5000 'CB Radio' in a local store one time for $150. And it wasn't stolen. Had belonged to some ham who had passed away, his wife had given everything to the thrift. I spent about $1000 that day digging around. -Although the prices seemed to go up as I kept digging..... (I think they caught on eventually)

Good job on that find, pays to be observant, and ALWAYS ASK.

I say it don't count unless we see pictures.

It does beat my $273.94 AMAZON Warehouse Deals BCD436HP deal by a bit.
