Aviation, k-9, crime scene, pd wreckers, highway and esu all operate on command. Really wish highway had their own tg.

Yes, very busy freq and now talk-group.

Command Band is primary dispatch channel for - Marine Bureau, Hwy Patrol, K-9, Aviation, Emergency Service (ES), Crime Scene, County Park Rangers and a lot of specialized detective units will communicate to HQ over Command.

Also, outside agencies like ENCON will talk to SCPD on Command.

Similar to NYPD SOD

Yes, Ocean Beach PD uses a talk group on the county 800 system.

They'll also hop on Command Band if they need to request Aviation from SCPD HQ.

SCPD is giving up the old Command Vhf 155.685 to the NYSP, because their Vhf is getting interference.

FCC wanted the freq to have activity on it. So, in the meantime - SCPD is patching Command on 800 trunked with the old Command Vhf.

Its TX only (off the Hauppauge Tower), but all the receivers are off, so you can't talk in on Vhf.

Brings back memories for a lot of us....
i’m listening to it right now on a CDM1250 sounds really good… is troop L moving off their existing frequency?

My guess is until NYSP gets on the air. Not sure if they're going to use the existing SCPD system, maybe add on to it, that would make the most sense financially. There is one transmitter up and running with 10 voting sites.

My suggesting would be to make it a simulcasted freq, and add some sites on the east end.

Are you reading the replies? It belonged to Suffolk. Now it belongs to NYSP. At some point, NYSP may utilize it. Exactly how is unknown at this time.

NYSP took the freq. How it will be used is unknown. I heard their VHF was getting too much interference from upstate, so my guess is maybe this freq will possibly be used as a primary channel.

Back in June the state wanted to add a mono pole in the Islip area (fire police ems) but many residents were against it and it got squashed.

As far as 155.685, wonder if they are going to do or add anything in Nassau County. Only transmitter (that I found in my brief search) is in Plainview.

Remains to be seen.

The system is up and running in Suffolk (5 western towns). Maybe they'll buildout in Nassau and the east end?

I always thought that it was weird to have one channel for ESU/Aviation/Highway Patrol/Marine Bureau/ and now the Suffolk County Park Rangers, the village PD’s, the 5 western suffolk Harbormasters & bay constables. Youd think that the aviation & marine div’s would want their own TG’s rather than listen to accidents/tows/distracted/drunk/aggressive/speeding/reckless/wrongway driver calls all day long. For a while in the analog system there was a TG for the marine Div, but it was reasigned to some village as a LG TG.

Command is the main dispatch for all those units. Most, if not all of them have their own talk groups to talk internally. But if they need HQ aka Dispatch, they must call on Command. The outside towns/villages aren't really dispatched per se over Command, they'll just call if they need to tell or communicate something to SCPD.

PS. You forgot K-9, Crime Scene, PD Wreckers LOL
