Screen protectors for radios

Call me OCD but for years I've been cutting out iPhone screen protectors to protect the screens on my radios. I've googled searched if anyone was making screen protectors for common radios like motorolas, vertex and kenwoods and didn't come across anything.

Is there a company out there making them or did I just stumble onto a good business idea.

Also I'm aware that unication makes screen protectors for their pagers and Motorola makes them for their new line of dmr portables. But I would love to have a perfect cut screen protector on my kenwoods, vertex and end of life moto gear (xts5000)

Motorola apx radios have gorilla glass in them so they are scratch resistance.

I thought I was the only nut. I do that too with Dollar Store screen protectors. Looks great when I’m done.

I started using cut down tablet and phone screen protectors for Harris Unity XG-100P handhelds. Later I also did this for Motorola DTR series radios and Garmin i3 GPS units. Some devices instead ended up with 3M privacy screen protectors which helped in low light operation aboard aircraft and vessels.

Great idea, and does add protection to screens.

Can you provide a link to Unication screen protectors. I am not aware that they make them. I bought a $4 one off eBay, (not made by Unication), and is was junk. It is an open market. If you could obtain the material (the tempered glass is better than the plastic crap) in the correct sizes. You can't cut/trim, the glass like you can plastic though.

I get my screen protectors from this place. They make them for all types of devices and will even custom cut them to specified size out of different types of protector material.

Glass screen protectors I believe won't work with displays that slightly curve such as xts5000

I was putting a piece of clear packing tape that I cut out on my XTS portables. Worked fantastic and never any issues, until it got cold one day. Had it on my 5K and I went to peel it off and it left an odd film on the screen.

You can try wd-40 or rubbing alcohol to get it off. Don't combine the two though and be gentle, don't use anything that might scratch the screen. For whatever reason the plastic screen on the xts5000 scratches very easily.

Yeah I have good results with “goof-off” water mixture. The tape does work good, you just have to be conscious of the glue residue it leaves.
