Searched the may posts as best as i could. Did not find the exact problem i am having, so here it is:

Over the last few weeks, i am constantly getting SD write card errors on my 536. I even bought new cards. I format, clear user data, write to the card, and it works for a few hours, and then the dreaded SD write card error pops up on the scanner. Don't know if this is a hardware problem with the 536 or is something else going on. Since I can't get in touch with anyone at Uniden support I am asking the question here.

Your card is going bad - buy a replacement, format it for FAT or FAT32, use Sentinel to "Clear user data" on it (which will write the needed base info), then write your FLs and profile back to it.

Lots of threads on the issue, but the above is the answer you would find.

The new scanners that use SD cards have problems with power loss and not shutting down. If your power blinks while the scanner is on you may see a card problem the gre/whistler scanners have the same problems remove the batter while it is on you kill the SD card. If you are using the 536 in your car turn off the scanner before starting your car and turn off the scanner before you turn off your car if power is direct connected. If you are using you 536 at home I would use a UPS this also lets your scanner run for a short time in a power loss from the power company.

I've never used SDFormatter, so your mileage may vary. If it works for you, great.

The fact that it fails after a few hours makes me think of a couple things. One, what temperature is the radio running at? Years ago when I had an HP1 installed in my car, situations where it got quite hot (installed on the windshield) or cold (-40 winters here) would result in card read errors where I had to actually remove the card from the radio, let it (and the radio) assume more normal temps, and then it would work again no problem.

The other thing I'm wondering about is data accumulation on the card. Are you using the Record function, or something else that would cause the card to fill up? You say you've been buying new cards, but what brand and class are they? You could buy cheap low-end cards forever and always have faults with them. I personally use the red and grey SanDisk 32GB microSDHC card in my 436, 536, and both HP1s, as well as my phone and tablet, and have never had a card fail to the point that I had to trash it. (If you don't need that kind of space - 32GB will last weeks even if you are recording - you can go as low as 4GB IIRC in the 536.)

New San Disk 32 Gb card seems to be holding. Two days in now on the new card. I am thinking I may have been getting some fluctuations from the electrical outlet? So far so good.
