a new firmware update was just released today a few hours ago! I flashed the firmware in the Airspy and the popping/stuttering hasn't happened since!

The latest AirspyR2 firmware (RC10) was released in 2016.

Could the popping be related to USB-sleep? (Selective Suspend, or whatever other names it may go under)

I run the AirspyR2 on a USB2 connection, using a 5 meter USB extension-cable, on 10 MSPS and do not get popping.

When I tried running it on a longer USB extension-cable, it popped (and even crashed)

But check your Windows-settings to see if USB is kept alive at all times (It's usually found under power-management settings, in some sub-menu where you also control HDD-sleep and CPU-throttle)

If the popping doesn't come back, then just ignore this post. But if it does, then maybe check these things :)

No, the latest firmware was released 05/24/18. I put a link to it in a previous post. Also, revision 2 Airspy R2 units were also released. I've got one on the way. Popping and stuttering have ceased since flashing the new firmware in my particular setup and have not returned. However, I already made those changes in the past too in USB power management settings and that didn't solve my problem, flashing the new firmware did though however! Interestingly, no new commits have been made to their firmware code in github but indeed, new firmware was released https://airspy.groups.io/g/main/message/29130

Nope :)

Open the zip and check the file-dates ;)

It's dated September 24th, 2016 (It's the exact same firmware-files as the download on the official Airspy website)
