SDR for scanning MPSCS

Do you any of you people think I could use a rtl-sdr dongle for recieving mpscs with any kind of clarity

I believe you would need at least two, or an SDR with a dual receive board, as the software would have to monitor the control channel on ene and then tell the other one what frequency/talkgroup to tune to.

You will need two devices, but the Airspy is a much better SDR. If you use OP25, a single Airspy is all you need.

You can also use Unitrunker. I use a 1 dongle setup with it all the time. I tried to get a 2 dongle setup working and have been unsuccessful so far with decode quality with the 2nd SDR.

It can be done with one, but setting up a two stick system can be faster tracking. (One stick just monitors the control channel, and the other follows the audio traffic.)

I've used a 2 dongle setup with DSD+ on both the Detroit and St Clair sites many times. Works great....
