Could someone please look at this quick video I took of my computer and possibly shed some light on what settings I'm overlooking - it seems every time someone keys a mic, all heck breaks loose.

I'm using a Nooelec Nesdr v5 hooked into lmr400 coax to a Sirio GP 3-E antenna tuned to about 155MHz.

Squelch is at 21, gain at about 7-8dB.

Any ideas is greatly appreciated.

Probably a multicast VHF paging system. I must use two notch filters inline to attenuate my local offending system. I purchased them from Par Filters. You can actually hear the pager tone over a signal at one point in the video.

1. Confirm the offending frequency
2. You may need more than one. See dB level of the RF signal to figure that.
3. Have Dale tune the filter to that frequency

How do I go about finding the offending frequency?

EDIT: On the waterfall, 155.445 shows bright deep red when the overload presents itself:

When I search that frequency for Arizona, it comes up as our Arizona Department of Transportation - Highway Maintenance and Enforcement.

But then when I click on the Callsign, it shows it in San Juan County, Utah. That's about 300 miles due north from me.

EDIT EDIT: The database is showing that frequency as "IN". If I search the entire database, I do not get anything close to me going "OUT" on that frequency.

I is really confused...

Am I correct that "attenuating" that frequency (or general range of it) would control that signal? If so, would other frequencies close by (155.550, 155.430, etc.) still be listenable?

If the above is correct, how does one go about determining how many dB of attenuation is required?

Before I contact Dale at PAR, I'd kind of like to be a bit more educated. Thank you.

Your modulation should be NFM , bandwidth 10000-12500 khz. I'd drop the sample_rate to 2.048.

You'll need to edit your saved frequencies to nfm 10000-12500 khz.

Also make sure you edit Navigation band plan(pancake menu) uncheck Auto update radio settings.

What is the total frequency range you are scanning? lowest frequency/highest frequency? You could possibly get everything set up on sdrtrunk, listen, record, ingest with trunking recorder & listen on any web browser

Thank you! I now recall a couple years back when getting started that was an issue. I've been out of it for a while and forgot about this.

I'll work on it tomorrow. Thanks again.

Frequency range I've been scanning is 148-162MHz (+/- a couple.) Besides aviation, everything in my rural area is in that range.

In a metro area previously, I needed SDRTrunk but man it was a pain. I'd rather not revisit those days.
