I've tried searching this up already, but most SDRTrunk audio issues are an "all or nothing" type of error.

I've configured SDRTrunk to listen to King County WA frequencies using the RR database import, and I know that it at least somewhat works. Usually when I first start it up, I will hear a lot of voice transmissions out of the left and right speakers. There is so much talking I can't even keep up with what they're saying. But then after a moment, it goes quiet and I hear nothing, but the waterfall view shows that there are a lot of transmissions being seen between 850mHz and 853mHz.

I have the obligatory NOAA weather channel setup for testing and it works fine.

I also understand SDRTrunk works better when you have two SDR dongles instead of one, so I ordered another. Could the issue be related to the limited of using one dongle?

Running on Windows or Linux? You need to check the black startup window for errors. If you are running one dongle and the site(s) you are monitoring have frequencies more than 2.4 mhz apart, then you are going to have issues with the dongle not being able to tune to some voice channels -- thus necessitating the need for more dongles.

But there is useful information in the black startup screen. It'll tell you when you can't tune to a voice channel because it is outside the range of the current dongle, etc.

What brand SDR are you using?

Which tower or towers do you have programmed in? North, West, or South? That would determine how many dongles you would need.
