Version 1.3 is available and the scanning feature is fantastic. Autoloads what it finds (if you prefer) to the memory bank and has a number of useful settings such as signal threshold, scan range, memory bank scanning, frequency step, etc. Seems to be quite fast also.

I haven't had a chance to update yet, but I did watch the YouTube video last night. Looks like fun!

I found for whatever reason it ignores the first entry in my memory bank. This is also with a bank I created a while ago. I haven't tried creating a new bank or anything. Other than that and a little fine tuning it seems to work well.

It has its peculiarities. I found that scanning a memory bank only works in one mode. If the memories in the bank contain mixed modes it doesn't switch modes to accommodate the memory. There also seems to be certain combinations of mode/step size that will crash the program. When autoloading memories it can load the frequency too early, such as not being centered on FM signals. But the scan feature has helped me populate various band groups near me such as aircraft, sheriff's office, military, etc. that are actually active.

The default IF is now set to Low IF rather than Zero IF. In my case, this has helped a lot with intermodulation issues I have here in Tampa. I have noticed that the program will force bandwidth settings when entering certain frequencies. As an example, I like to set a 200 KHz bandwidth by pressing the 160 meter band button and then I enter 29.600 MHz to display the FM portion of 10 meters. The program widens the bandwidth greatly now and won't allow the 200 KHz setting. I haven't noticed if this also occurs on other manually entered frequencies.

All in all I like the new version. I'm sure it will be polished and refined over time.

Does the scanner save audio files of each frequency it finds and stops on ??

Not in an automated way no. There is a spectrum recorder which can be manually started and stopped, it records the entire visible RF spectrum within the scope view. This SDR is intended for "hands on" operation.

Try making a blank first line in the .s1b file.

I noticed in the video that it stores found frequencies starting on the second line.

I haven't seen this in previous versions. Something else to test...

Or possibly manually enter the "first" frequency twice and fool the scanner.

Here's a demo video I made of it scanning a series of UHF T-band analog public safety channels the next county south of me uses. Works well but it has its little quirks

The developers say that the first line phenomenon is a bug and that they will correct it in the next update.

Besides the new scanning capability, the reconfigured AGC and low IF settings have vastly improved the overall performance of the SDR in my intermodulation nightmare environment of TampaBay. Really works a lot better.

I quoted this idiot to inform everyone that the latest version has corrected this and the scanner will now change modes.
