I have a SDS 100 and I am getting "SD Card File error Use Sentinel "Clear User Data" operation to initialize SD Card" Connect SDS 100 to computer, SDS 100 recognizes that it has been connected but Sentinel software does note recognize that scanner has been connected.

What are my options?

Did you press the E(Yes) button when you connected it?

Looks like you need a new SD card. But you can try formatting the failing card then try "Clear User Data" while the scanner is in Storage Mode. (or using a card reader)

Connect the scanner to the computer and choose "Mass Storage Mode". From the Sentinel top tool bar, click scanner, then clear user data.
Check the "display all drives" box in that window and see if the SD card shows up there.

I just had to do this when I stopped an upload to scanner midstream over the weekend, it worked.

So is it fixed now? Worst case if the card is truly corrupted vs not putting the scanner in Mass Storage mode, is follow the other threads with the card in a PC... format the card and put new loads on it. Pretty straight forward procedure. I just did this upgrading to 16G class 10 cards.

This thread is mine but has links to other threads where this was discussed as well. If you have to go this route use the SD format tool.

No. I picked up a new card. when installed, same message. I connect SDS 100 to computer, same message. Sentinel software does not see scanner. I do not have a SD card slot on this particular computer. I am on the road and will be returning home tomorrow.

Are you using the supplied cable? Are you pressing the E (Yes) button when first plugging it in [Mass Storage Mode}? Are you using the correct SD slot on scanner?

You only have what 15s to 20s to push "E" or "." where "E" is for Mass Storage Mode and "." is for serial mode. The unit will default to serial mode if "E" is not pushed in the ~20s window. Well mine do.

Odd... mine doesn't. After the ~20s the scanner goes back to scanning. Is that some option I missed?

The trick to seeing it is ya have to have something watching the port to see it. It will be in the device manager and of course there is ProScan.

and FYI do not format the card while it is in the scanner in Mass Storage Mode. I tried this and after 3 hours it was at like 26% complete so I aborted it. I then pulled the card and put it in my laptop. I was done with the full format, clear all data as well as a full database and favorites push in under 25 minutes.
