The rear micro USB port, as well as the front USB A port were designated by Uniden for "future use" when the SDS200 was released... but there has never been any further word from Uniden as to their intended purpose or if they will ever be put to use. Some users have experimented with more or less "proof of concept" uses for those USB ports...

The front USB A port does supply 5 volts... some of us use it to power a WiFi bridge for the LAN port.

In the essence of experimenting with programming ideas for my SDS200, I discovered something interesting about the USB-A front port. On a whim, I connected the cable that comes with the scanner, the USB micro cable, to both the front USB-A port AND the front USB-micro programming port. After a few seconds, the radio comes up with the Mass Storage / Serial port screen. This tells me that the USB-A port can act as a USB Host port. I tried connecting the micro cable to a plain USB hub not connected to anything else but DC5V wall wart, and that did nothing. Pardon me if this is old info; I just found it very interesting that I was able to do that.
