I am a long time Stridsberg owner and speak from experiance.I have to disagree with you along with every other Stridsberg owner.
CATV amps are not designed for scanners or receivers
I agree. CATV amplifiers are noisy but better than nothing at all and the cost are very low. The best ones are similar to Stridsberg at 3dB NF and can be used if you are careful as their intermod tolerance are low.I had more noise from a 8 port variable CATV amp proven with a HP Service Monitor
You have to use the low noise types of amplifiers that are aimed at weak signal reception and high IP3 specification to handle strong signal overload. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultra-LNA-...ilization-USB-cable-PGA-103-NF-5/282883789248
Look inside a CATV splitter and you'll find similar transformers that Stridsberg use. CATV splitter isolate between 12-20dB depending of what ports you measure, how many transformers the signal needs to travel, and what manufacturer it is, and are plenty enough isolation. Some users even state that they use a T connector to split with zero isolation and don't see any issues with that.Look at port to port isolation on a service monitor with a stridesberg hooked up compaired to a BNC T or CATV Splitter.
