Is this really fact or just myth? If true, shame on Uniden for designing it that way.Because charging the battery, in the scanner, will wear out the battery.

Because charging the battery, in the scanner, will wear out the battery.
First, The OP was asking about the SDS100, not the BCD436HP.That's the first I've heard of it. I have been charging the batteries in my BCD 436, SDS 100 for a few years and daily in the 150 without any noticeable issues. Yes, as with any rechargeable battery, you'll eventually reach the battery's life cycle and it will start charging less fully each charge, but that is based on charge cycles, not whether the battery is charged in or out of the scanner.
Because the power n' the recharge would be happening at the same time.Yeah I think I gotta ask the poster who says "charging the batter in the scanner will wear out the battery" to cite his source.
Knocking on all the wood I can find, my SDS100 is plugged in 24/7 and I haven't had any issues. Battery life could be longer, but still works okay.
I am aware that the OP was asking about the SDS 100. My point was to @blueline_308 that I haven't had any issues with Uniden radios as a whole, including the 100. Yes, the 100 has had issues with batteries expanding but again, that isn't dependent on the batteries being charged in or out of the radio.First, The OP was asking about the SDS100, not the BCD436HP.
Second, The SDS100 batteries have a not-so-good history with overheating.
Third, While the batteries for the BCD436HP are shaped like an alkaline-AA battery. As a matter of consistency. I don't charge either type of battery in the respective scanner. I also keep an extra set.
The SDS150 does charge in the cradle, I will give Uniden that much.
How does this wear out the battery?Because the power n' the recharge would be happening at the same time.
SDS100 Rechargeable Battery Wearing Out When Charged In ScannerHow does this wear out the battery?
I get a page not found error when I click on the link; but I believe you. Just never heard of it happening before. Guess I learn something new every day
It doesn't...How does this wear out the battery?
@BigMike02 To answer your question directly, I have not seen the issue you described on my SDS 100. Just checking in since I haven't seen a response from you since your initial post and the thread is starting to stray off topic.Purchase SDS 100, last week, using the power cord provided by Uniden, I plug it into an outlet before bed approx 6-8 hrs later red light still on, not fully charged. Anyone else experience this?
