I thought Id try a power analysis on the SDS100 using my USB Charge Analyzer. This is my first attempt and I tried it on the screen brightness settings. I know there are many other scenarios I can test, but I thought this would be an easy first try. I think I covered the important disclaimers in the notes, but let me know if there's anything I can improve on, or suggestions for the next test?

(I didn't use the Mini-B port because this USB tester is only USB-C and it didn't cooperate well with a USB-C to USB A adapter. As far as I'm aware, these ports behave the same when it comes to Scanner-only power delivery (no battery charging)

Out of curiosity flip the adapter around and see if that changes anything.

These adapters and cables can be made very cheap and stupidly...

I say this because I have this issue when I clone my computer to an external NVMe enclosure. So I put a small piece of tape on the side that has to be orientated up.

Cool, you're very welcome.

Now you may want to do as I did and add a piece of tape to the side that works and to the other side that works. You align both pieces of tape so to speak. I used Gorilla tape. I just used a very small piece I cut with my scalpel. I like my scalpel over a razor blade, but if not used properly it's VERY dangerous.
