Okay here is something stupid. It appears the power switch on my sds100 has stopped working.

I could not get it to turn on last night and this morning I finally got it to turn on after messing around with it. But now it won't turn off.

Is this really a thing?

Does the 100 power on and off via the keypad? How old is the 100? My 436 was acting like that after a few years so I opened it up and cleaned the contacts and it works good. I am aware not everyone has the means or know how to do this but if you do, its worth a shot.

I have had it since 2018.

You're right I don't have the technical know how to do that. If that is really the issue not sure what can be done aside from shelling out who knows how much for a repair...

If you have any local ham clubs near you those guys would most likely have the know how and do it for a box of doughnuts. On the 436 it was just 4 screws, a few q tips and rubbing alcohol. I don't have a 100 yet so I am unsure if its the same exact procedure or not.

The SDS100 turns on and off with a key on the keyboard. Below is a copy and paste from the Uniden Website.

Flat rate service/repair charges are for out-of-warranty products and, in most cases, include all parts and labor necessary to bring your product back to the original specifications.

Note: The flat rate service/repair fee is NON REFUNDABLE. If a product is not repairable, we will notify you that the unit is not repairable & we will typically offer a comparable model as a replacement at a discounted rate. Your service/repair fee will be credited towards the discounted rate. Two other options are also available (No Additional Charge), if you do not wish to take advantage of the replacement that is offered. 1) We can send the unrepairable product back as is or, 2) We will recycle the unrepairable product if you decide that you do not want it back.

Important!! Shipping and applicable taxes will be added to these charges. When sending your product in for repair or scanner programming, please include $15 for shipping & handling charges if in the US Contiguous 48 States or $40 for shipping & handling charges if in Canada/Alaska/Hawaii/US Territories. International charges will vary. The Return Information section will show you exactly how to send your product in for repair.

I have a problem turning on the SDS100 but it’s because of the hard leather carry case I use. For some reason pushing down thru the clear plastic window just doesn’t get the job done most times. But if I remove the radio the power button works fine. You wouldn't by any chance experiencing the same issue?

Alright thanks everyone for the information.

It doesn't have a case so it is definitely the power switch itself. All the other switches seem to be fine.

I got it to turn off again but I had to push it noticeably harder.
